& Forget-Me-Nots
Brookdale Orchard Dedication of the Gus Frangos Wisdom Garden at Daniel E. Morgan School. Saturday, August 31, 2024, 1:15 p.m. 1410 East 89th Street (at Morris Court), Cleveland, Ohio 44106
Originally scheduled to speak during the dedication of the Daniel E. Morgan School Wisdom Garden which his organization sponsored with land and funds, Cuyahoga County Land Reutilization Corporation founder, Gus Frangos will be remembered by Brookdale Orchard with the naming of the first of four teaching gardens in honor of their late board member and dear friend. As stated by his beloved staff in announcing his death, “Gus Frangos passed away unexpectedly on August 10, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of transformative leadership and unwavering commitment to revitalizing communities across Cuyahoga County.”
Providing invaluable support for the nine-year development of Brookdale Orchard through his leadership at the CLRC; including the demolition of abandoned, derelict and unsafe properties, assemblage and donation of land and a building for education, training and production, and as a powerful, compassionate advocate on the Orchard’s behalf; Gus, his wife Christie, and members of his CLRC staff genuinely enjoy participating in the Orchard’s individual garden dedications and looked forward to being with us on the 31st. He will be deeply missed.
The Gus Frangos Daniel E. Morgan Wisdom Garden dedication is the centerpiece of Brookdale Orchard’s August 31, 2024, Jammin’ for Jesus Harvest Festival which begins at 11 a.m. The event is free and open to the public, and includes an outdoor luncheon, festive games, music and dancing, for all ages.
Leadership from St. Matthew and the Rockefeller Park Community Restoration & Development Association will be joined by City of Cleveland Councilwoman Stephanie Howse-Jones and representatives from the Cuyahoga Land Reutilization Corporation, East Ohio Conference United Methodist Church, and Cleveland Metropolitan School District in bringing greetings and remarks prior to the musical blessing of the garden and students, rendered by locally based recording artists, Hue People. Parking for festival and dedication is available at Daniel E. Morgan School.
